I was sitting on a bench in the mall recently. There were some silk trees in a large planter style box beside of me. A slight movement kept catching my eye, but I never could see what it was. I brushed it off as my eyes playing tricks on me. It continued for a while, and I realized that either I had something seriously wrong with my eyes, or there was something in those trees.

I got up to examine them, and noticed a bunch of very large black ants crawling all over the tree. It was infested with them! They must have hitched a ride in the mulch they put at the base of the fake tree. I didn’t expect that they would dislike their new home because there was a trashcan nearby full of empty pop cans. That may just be the best thing that has ever happened to them, until the exterminator shows up!

For a bit of irony, I noticed that Ants Marching by Dave Matthews Band was playing softly in the background… :???:

    1. yikes. yes, piles of ants can be very gross. I recall during one rainy season in california, ants would come out of the ground and swarm over food item left out - a can of soda, and a few moments later, ants everywhere.

We had an ant problem here in summer. I hope they don’t come back next year.. ;)

Looking forward to reading more from you. :)
