And there is always a chance that someone could have put something onto the straps of these flip-flops just to make someones life miserable. In any case, I believe that I would be getting the shoes examined to see exactly what the cause was so I could watch out for this to happen again. I don't blame Wal-Mart at all, but I think they should be more compassionate about what has happened. After all, this lady is helping to feed the beast. I can agree with that.

Considering the extent of her injury, they ought to offer to pay her medical expenses. But they won't, probably on advice from their attorneys. Just because the flip flops cost $40 instead of $4 doesn't mean they weren't made in China or that they won't cause a reaction. Or even that the store will assume responsibility.
