Wal-Mart Flip Flops Will Rot Your Feet

Posted by Bucky in WVb Stuff

I was browsing the top stories on Digg yesterday, and I saw a page that was about flip-flops burning someones feet. Being human, I had to check it out. What I saw was a terrible tragedy that this poor lady is currently going through.

I can’t figure out why this hasn’t caught the mainstream media’s attention. It definately should. If I were the lady I would be contacting my local news station…they would eat this stuff up, and she could get the exposure that she is wanting.

Walmart flip flops

Lovely aren’t they? Too bad they will rot your feet right off your leg!

Well, i wonder why did she wear these damn shoes until her foot looked like this… Couldn’t shell feel the pain or what? Jeez…

That looks like a reaction to a dye or another chemical in the straps of the flip flops. My guess is that the allergen is not a common problem for most people. I know women who can’t wear specific shades of makeup, like reds or blues or purples.

I wouldn’t blame wal-mart for this one. Mainstream media won’t pick it up unless several people have this problem. Otherwise, it’s just an issue of one person’s skin reaction.

    That’s horrible. I don’t shop at wal-mart for anything. I’m so glad I don’t now.

Wow, that’s pretty ugly! Wonder if it’s another product from China. There’s been all sorts of problems with Chinese products coming to light recently.

@Mike – One of the first things on her webpage says this:

AS SOON AS I REALIZED THERE WAS A PROBLEM I STOPPED WEARING THE SHOES.

Apparently the skin damage had been done by then, there was nothing left to do but watch her feet peel.

@Marisa – I don’t blame Wal-Mart for her being allergic. According to her, they are coming off as assholes as she confronts them about this. Probably thinking she is going to sue them, they won’t listen to her.

@Jenny – When you live in a place like I do, all you have is Wal-Mart. All the stores I used to shop at have since closed their doors.

@Josh – As a matter of fact, I believe they were from China. Look at the photo of the letter she got from Wal-Mart. I believe that the company it refers to is in China. The lady even says something about them being from China in a quote below the photo I just referenced.

Yeah, they’re acting like they’re afraid of a lawsuit. Considering the extent of her injury, they ought to offer to pay her medical expenses. But they won’t, probably on advice from their attorneys.

Just for the record, you can purchase a product with this type of problem from even high end stores. Just because the flip flops cost $40 instead of $4 doesn’t mean they weren’t made in China or that they won’t cause a reaction. Or even that the store will assume responsibility. That’s just corporate America.

    I can agree with that.

And there is always a chance that someone could have put something onto the straps of these flip-flops just to make someones life miserable.

In any case, I believe that I would be getting the shoes examined to see exactly what the cause was so I could watch out for this to happen again.

I don’t blame Wal-Mart at all, but I think they should be more compassionate about what has happened. After all, this lady is helping to feed the beast.

Oh, poor lady! I really hope her feet gets well soon. That must hurt a lot. I think she must be allergic to one of the components of the straps, though. I hope they settle this issue soon.
