How To Fix The “Do You Want To Move Or Copy Files From This Zone?” Nag In Windows XP
Posted by Bucky in nfp
Ever since installing SP3 on my Windows XP box, I am greeted with the “Do You Want To Move Or Copy Files From This Zone?” nag everytime I try to move a file to a different location on my network. After searching all around, I have finally found a fix.
I will share it here with you all in case you also run into this problem.
Open Control Panel -> Internet Options.
Open Security-tab; mark the zone “Local intranet”, press the “Sites” button,
UN-tick “Automatically detect intranet network”,THEN
tick “Include all local (intranet) sites not listed in other zones” and
tick “Include all network paths (UNCs)”.
That’s it! Problem solved!

Thank you very much for the posting — worked like a charm! Hasn’t MS got better things to do (like creating a decent new O/S after the Vista debacle) then to add useless, annoying ‘features’ to XP?
Thanks!
